Mary Lou Berry Scholarship

The Mary Lou Berry Scholarship was established in memory of Mary Lou Berry, who had a 60 year career as a nurse. She encouraged students in Nueces Canyon ISD to stay in school and always stressed the importance of a college education. Her legacy is to help Nueces Canyon HS students achieve their dreams of a higher education. Applicants must be a current graduating student from Nueces Canyon High School. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in nursing or medicine. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a minimum ACT score of 15. Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from academic instructors. The Mary Lou Berry Memorial Scholarship is a two-year scholarship. Recipients must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and must submit a copy of an official college transcript of their grades after the first academic year in order to receive funds for the second year. Recipients must be accepted to an accredited college or university, or a medical training program authorized under federal and state law and accredited by a nationally recognized accreditation agency prior to award decision. Selection is based on applicants with a minimum ACT score of 15 and financial need. The scholarship award will be forfeited if not accepted by December 31st of the award year.
