Scholibuddy ("we", "us", or "our") operates https://scholibuddy.ai (the "Service"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you create an account, fill out your scholarship profile, or contact us for support. This may include your name, email address, academic information (GPA, intended major, graduation year), and demographic information relevant to scholarship eligibility.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve our Service; to personalise scholarship search results and AI-powered matching; to communicate with you about your account, features, and scholarship opportunities; and to comply with legal obligations.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with trusted third-party service providers who assist in operating our platform (such as our database provider, payment processor, and email delivery service), subject to confidentiality obligations.

Browser Extension

The ScholiBuddy browser extension only activates on application pages you opened from your ScholiBuddy account. On every other page it does not appear, does not read the page, and does not contact our servers. It does not track your browsing.

When you click "Fill this page", the extension sends the structure of that form so we can match it against your saved profile. For each field that means its label, type, options, whether it is required, its length limit, any help text beside it, and any text already in the field. It also sends the page address and the form's title so we can tell which scholarship you are applying to. If you type anything into the optional extra-context box, that is sent too.

Some fields are never read. Password, Social Security number, credit card and bank fields, along with file uploads and hidden fields, are removed on your own computer before anything is assembled or sent.

We use this to work out which of your saved answers belongs in which field, and to draft essay answers when you ask for one. To do that we pass the form's structure and your relevant profile answers to third-party AI providers who process them on our behalf. We also keep a record of these AI requests and responses on our own systems so we can debug failures and measure quality, and we delete those records after 90 days. We do not use any of this to build an advertising profile, and we do not sell it.

We do not store the contents of the form in our database. Our servers keep the web address of the application page in routine server logs.

Your signed-in session is kept in local browser storage so you are not asked to log in on every application page. Uninstalling the extension removes it.

The extension never submits an application for you, and never ticks a consent, agreement or certification checkbox on your behalf.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track activity on our Service and hold certain information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and role-based access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed to children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the Service or provide any personal information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
